Let’s dive into the details of today’s release. This remarkable feature of iPadOS empowers third-party developers to enable support for multiple windows in their apps, and PDF Expert is one of the few apps to implement this early on. With multi-window support on iOS 13, your PDF experience is improved exponentially as you can now view and edit two PDF documents side-by-side on the same screen, without the need of any workarounds.

I love the set up. I can open pallets that use to float in the way. The screen on top is 32″ Samsung and the computer is my 15″ MacBook Pro. Been using my iPad as a second screen when working on the road for a couple of years now and it has been a game-changer. My favorite thing has been using my apple pencil in the full version of Photoshop, it has become the norm whenever I need to edit photos.

I’m sure a Sketch tool the Architect’s most basic way of communicating will get a lot more use than the super fancy Structural Analytical Model that all of us use on a daily basis. Being sarcastic in this last part. I have sketch tool that I use on my iPad called Trace by Morpholio. Sketches can be imported to Archicad.

There is some 3D integration. It is a pretty nice app that is used by many architects. Now use your pencil to highlight any text you choose. If you want to deactivate an annotation tool, just tap it again. The other important tool for Pencil users is, well, the pencil.

Tap on it, and then make any written note or drawing you wish. You can use your finger to turn pages or scroll through the document. When you are done making notes with your pencil, just tap Done and Acrobat will return to the normal reading mode. Steve Jobs famously said that a tablet that needs a stylus is a failure. Instead, the Apple Pencil offers an enhancement to an already great touch experience. For students, writers, editors and anyone else who has to deal extensively with PDF document editing, a Pencil changes the game when it comes to comfort, speed, and accuracy.

So go forth and lay down your red marks on every PDF document that comes your way. You have the power to annotate a PDF now!

For applications that natively support the Apple Pencil, you get to take advantage of its pressure sensitivity, tilt function and all the other technologies Apple has packed into it for a realistic and nuanced writing experience.

How much this matters to you will differ from one person to the next. While many apps will have a mode where you can simply write on a PDF using any stylus, a few apps have specific support for the unique features that make the Apple Pencil great.

Adobe Acrobat is of course the most obvious choice for working with PDFs. After all, Adobe is the company that invented PDF in the first place!

The app is free and includes many different ways to annotate a PDF. For example, you can add sticky notes or highlight text. Which makes perfect sense, since it does both jobs excellently. PDF Expert supports pressure sensitivity with the Apple Pencil, depending on which annotation pen you choose to use. Nebo is free, but some if its advanced features, like PDF export, unlimited notebooks, and other quality-of-life additions, can cost a few dollars. The features in Goodnotes 5 that really stands out to me is its lasso-style OCR, which is perfect for messy pages.

Like other lasso-style tools in Photoshop, the lasso in Goodnotes 5 can freely select an area. This nifty Microsoft Whiteboard app is basic in its features, but for groups collaborating remotely it has the potential to be a fantastic tool.
